Brendon McCullum said, ‘To be honest, I was happy with the intention of the batsmen, but luck did not favor us, due to which we lost.’ McCullum further said that I want us to continue playing the attacking game, because last year this team did well. You know that the players we have picked in the auction are suitable for them.
Kolkata’s bowlers performed exceptionally well in taking the match against Bengaluru to the last over, but their star all-rounder Andre Russell was again seen struggling with shoulder problems during the defense of 128 runs. He could not fulfill his quota of overs. Asked about the same, McCullum said that giving Russell another over with the ball was too risky. Eventually, Russell bowled the final over, but Dinesh Karthik chased down the target with back-to-back boundaries. McCullum said Venkatesh Iyer will have to play a bigger role in the tournament with his skills. Iyer bowled the 19th over, which hit two fours, making the victory easy for Bengaluru.
