Mahendra Singh Dhoni

At the top of this list comes the most successful captain in IPL history in terms of win percentage: Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Leader of the Chennai Super Kings, he led them to two IPL titles in 2010 and 2011 and also to the 2011 Champions League Twenty20.

Shane Warne

Shane Warne said goodbye to his international cricket career in 2007 and was bought by Rajasthan Royals through auction in 2008 and made the captain of the team. In the same year, Warne made Rajasthan the champion and after that he remained the captain of the team till the year 2011.

Sachin Tendulkar

He also won the Best Batsman and Best Captain awards at the 2010 IPL Awards. Tendulkar has scored over 500 runs in the IPL in two different seasons as captain. Sachin Tendulkar led Mumbai Indians in 4 league matches of the second edition of the league.

Gautam Gambhir

He made his debut in the Indian Premier League with Delhi Capitals, after which he played for Kolkata Knight Riders where he won the title twice with a very good captaincy.
